Design That Puts Patients First

Designing for healthcare is not just about clean interfaces, it is about helping real people find help faster. I worked on the full redesign of Scanmed’s medical platform, creating a consistent experience across more than 30 medical centers. The goal was simple but ambitious: make the digital journey as clear and reassuring as a visit to a good doctor. Through structure, usability, and a strong visual identity, I helped shape a system that made finding doctors and booking visits easier, cutting bounce rates and building trust.

Designing a System That Works Everywhere

Scanmed is one of Poland’s major healthcare networks, connecting over 30 medical centers with thousands of patients. The previous digital ecosystem was fragmented, each center had different layouts, inconsistent navigation, and separate databases. My task was to help design a unified experience that connects everything: doctors, services, locations, and patients.

The process involved rethinking the entire information architecture, designing prototypes for various use cases, and building a flexible design system that scales easily while staying accessible for both patients and administrators.

When Every Search Starts Differently

Healthcare platforms are complex by nature. Every user searches differently, some by doctor, some by specialization, some by location. My challenge was to make all of these paths equally smooth and intuitive without overwhelming the user.

Another layer of difficulty came from the scale: more than 30 individual medical centers, each with its own structure, services, and staff listings, needed to be presented under one unified experience.

I created over 120 design screens covering various user scenarios, from search filters and booking flows to content templates and doctor profiles.

The timeline was tight, and the platform had to remain flexible enough for content editors to update information across dozens of sites. Balancing this complexity while keeping the interface light and calm was one of the most demanding design tasks I have worked on.

Simpler, Faster, and More Trustworthy Healthcare Online

The redesign brought measurable improvements: the bounce rate dropped by 17 percent, and users reported easier navigation and faster access to key information. The new design system gave Scanmed full control over 30 connected websites while keeping a cohesive visual identity and consistent patient experience.

I also developed moodboards and photo guidelines to align the tone of visuals across all centers, ensuring that every element, from color palette to typography, reflected Scanmed’s professional yet approachable character.

My contribution included user research, information architecture, wireframing, UI and UX design, and the creation of a modular design system ready for further expansion.

The result is a platform that feels lighter, more intuitive, and more human. A digital space where technology finally supports care instead of complicating it.
